We began the evening under the big white tent at Mizner Park Amphitheater. Spotlight Families Magazine sponsored a fun kids area with a DJ, balloon artists, face painting, games and free popcorn and cotton candy. There was a table with Cirque coloring pages, crayons and markers. There was also a display of various musical instruments. The children were allowed to pick up the instruments and actually test them out.  It provided them with a sensory experience to touch and feel the instrument and blow into it to create sound. Everyone was having so much fun, which really added to the excitement of the evening.

The time then came to find our seats for the sold out performance.

Because the visual wonders were choreographed to the complete symphony orchestra, the talented aerialists, acrobats, jugglers, and other world-renowned entertainers captivated them! Any apprehension I had dissipated immediately.

Only here can you have a 5 year old and an 85-year-old sitting side by side both completely mesmerized.  The appeal of this event truly spanned generations!

At one point, my 5 year old turned to me and asked, “Mommy, why is the music so sad?” I was in awe that she expressed how the music moved her to feel that certain emotion. Isn’t that the ultimate point of a symphony- To feel? To experience? To be moved by the music?

The Schmidt Family Centre for the Arts is a non-profit organization that sponsors the FOA Boca.  They are committed to cultural arts education, introducing new audiences to great music, and exposing young people to the great artists in master classes and open rehearsals.  They donate thousands of tickets to students and teachers each festival.

Festival of the Arts BOCA was designed to promote the cultural arts and to enrich the quality of life of Boca, North Broward and Palm Beach County residents. We feel very fortunate to have these events right here in our backyard.  We are already looking forward to The Festival of the Arts BOCA next year!
