It can feel challenging living in South Florida when it’s still almost 90 degrees outside to get into the holiday spirit, but Hoffman’s Chocolates has you covered! Their Factory Shoppe, Ice Cream Parlour and Gardens located at 5190 Lake Worth Road in Greenacres just opened their 28th Annual Winter Wonderland. This event is free and open to the public from November 17th through December 30th nightly from 6:00-10:00 p.m. Winter Wonderland will be closed on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 23), Christmas Eve (Dec 24) and Christmas Day (Dec 25).
My family and I were just recently hosted* and it was our first time attending. I can honestly say it was the perfect kick-off to our Thanksgiving break to get us into the holiday spirit. As you drive up, you can see the ice-skating rink from the street and the white lights decorating the Factory Shoppe. The girls and their friends started squealing with excitement. The first thing we did after we parked was enter the festively decorated Factory Shoppe and were taken into the back to create a special chocolate craft. The girls had so much fun decorating their chocolate treats! They had several options to choose from including a candy cane and a menorah. Then they were given a special tour of the factory and learned so much about how the chocolate treats are made and also about the history of Hoffman’s. We were able to ask questions as well and Inez, our tour guide was so knowledgable and friendly and answered all of our questions.
After decorating the treats and going on the factory tour, we headed out to the gardens to see the light displays. The girls had so much fun skipping through the holiday village listening to the music until we made our way around to the wreaths. Hoffman’s hosts an annual wreath decorating contest for local charities to earn money. We looked at each decorated wreath and talked about the different charities. The girls both decided on the same wreath and entered their tickets into the mailbox to cast their vote.
Then it was time to ice skate! We walked back past the Factory Shoppe to the Panther’s Ice Skating Rink which is real ice! It’s an open-tented rink with lights and seating available on the outside. My girls skated around hugging the edge trying to keep their balance. There were no walkers when we were there, but they did say they were going to try and get some soon. My girls had so much fun and even asked if we could come back again.
After ice skating we headed back inside. They had worked up an appetite for some of Hoffman’s delicious ice cream!
Before we left, we said our thank yous and good byes to our wonderful tour guide Inez and Jill, the fabulous store manager.
Be sure to say “Hi” from us when you’re there!
