When I first found out about International Day of Happiness, I knew this was something in which I wanted to participate. I began researching it’s origins. I was surprised to learn that the day was actually an official day declared by the UN. There is so much research on the topic of happiness and positive psychology. I was in heaven! I have such an interest in this area.
The United Nations International Day of Happiness is March 20th. This campaign is a global celebration. Happiness Day, Inc is. a U.S. based 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization founded and operated as a service for public good by Illien Global Public Benefit Corporation and the United Nations in order to support open, transparent access to the values, principles, and articles of UN resolutions 65/309 “Happiness: Towards a Holistic Approach to Development and 66:281 The International Day of Happiness
Another organization that supports this day is Action for Happiness, a UK non-profit movement of people from 170 countries. They bring together like-minded people from various backgrounds and help them take practical action, drawing on the latest scientific research. They are
supported by leading experts from diverse fields including psychology, education, economics and social innovation.
They believe happiness is a universal goal in the lives of human beings, and they promote education and public awareness-raising activities. They say there has been a shift of people recognizing that ‘progress’ should be about increasing human happiness and wellbeing, not just growing the economy.
Their site has a plethora of information on the topic of happiness.
Another resourceful site on happiness I discovered is Live Happy. It is a magazine, website, resource and movement about a timeless quest: Living a happy life.
Last year, for International Day of Happiness, Live Happy led the way with the largest awareness campaign of any organization. They believe one small act can change the world and created a Happy Acts challenge. I love these daily happiness challenges. They are easy enough for anyone to do.
How do we change the world?
One random act of kindness at a time.
To celebrate and honor International Day of Happiness one of their ideas is to create a happiness wall in your office, school or community.
I was inspired by their concept of a happiness wall to create one for my community! I partnered with ivivva Boca for the MindBodyExpo event that takes place this Sunday, March 20, 2016 in Boca Raton, FL. It happens to fall on the International Day of Happiness! This event is free and open to the public.
MindBody Expo is a premier eco & healthy lifestyle event held annually at Delray Marketplace and vicinities, bringing an outstanding content of the latest in Alternative and Holistic products and services, education, demos, food samples, music, dance, family entertainment and more, greatly benefiting local non-profits in which missions are focused in providing the education and tools for the unprivileged residing in the US.
Created by social entrepreneur Sandra Tribioli, CPT, CHHC, ADDP to assist the well-being and progress of our communities and honor those conscious-businesses and industry experts who understand the benefits of enlightenment and team building by creating a positive and measurable impact in our communities, enhancing our well-being and sustainable lifestyles.

Collaborating with ivivva Boca is a very natural fit. I share their goal in celebrating the strength and beautiful individuality in all girls. ivivva is the girls’ line of athletic wear created by lululemon athletica. “ivivva sparks and connects a global community of brave, compassionate and adventurous girls – to get involved, support each other and impact the world around them in their own unique way.”
I couldn’t agree with them more!
At their booth, I will have a wall for visitors to pledge:
“I will spread happiness by… “
Come visit us and add your note card to the wall!
The elementary school students in my Samaritans365 after school club helped me out by sharing some of their ideas of what happiness means to them.

Growing Up Glad blog aims to spread kindness and positivity while focusing on girls growing up living a life of gratitude, gladness, giving and of course glamour. In collaboration with ivivva Boca Raton, we will create a “Happiness Wall” on March 20th at the MindBody Expo from 11am to 4pm, the United Nation’s International Day of Happiness, to spread happiness in our community. Participants will pledge, “I will spread happiness by…” and add it to our wall at the ivivva Booth. I was inspired by Live Happy’s #happyacts challenge and their happiness wall idea to create one for our Boca Raton community. Look for the ivivva booth and the wall.
