Growing Up Glad gets published in KidFash Magazine for Bullying Prevention Month

KidFash Magazine

We are so proud to announce that we are featured in an article in this month’s issue of KidFash Magazine. The goal of their magazine is to inspire, motivate, encourage and help models, designers, dancers and photographers in the industry. Several years ago we had the opportunity to meet Damon Ross,  the founder of the magazine and walk in their fashion show here in Miami. We were so excited when they reached out to interview us about our work with bullying prevention. You can read the full article online here. Also, you can find this issue of KidFash Magazine in Barnes and Nobles and Books-A-Millions in mid-late October. 

The magazine asked us to provide some photos to go along with the article. Around the same time Lisa Glam of Portrait District had reached out to me about shooting together again. Over 4 years ago, when Lisa was beginning her career in photography, she had asked to photograph my girls. We had shot together several times since then and over the years she has worked so hard and honed her craft to become a premier lifestyle and family portrait photographer here in South Florida.  I carefully selected outfits that would exude joyfulness and positivity. I was able to find both of their looks at Target. I have linked all of the items here and on my LiketoKnow.It account.  Lisa selected a great spot and I was so grateful that it all came together.

Bullying Prevention

KidFash also advocates for Bullying Prevention. This cause is very important to us too. You can read about Juliet’s personal experience with bullying here. We shared our story in a blog post and a YouTube video. Before Juliet was ever bullied, it was a cause I felt strongly about since my time as an Elementary School Guidance Counselor. I would teach classroom guidance lessons about it and advocate for bullying prevention in the schools. Now as a parent, many of you know that I am a trained ambassador for the Kindness Matters 365 Foundation.  I help run an after school club at their elementary school that inspires acts of Compassion, Gratitude, and Kindness. We educate the students about ways they can give back to their community and make the word a better place, regardless of their age.

Be An Ally

One of the speakers we had at our Kindness Matters meetings was from the Anti-Defamation League. She taught us all about being an ally. I wrote a blog post about it and included 2 helpful flyers from the ADL along with links to more bullying prevention resources. You can read about it here.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month, but we treat every month with the same focus on kindness and bullying prevention. We aim to be positive voices in both social media and in our community.
