Become a Global Citizen with the Shifu Orboot Smart Globe
The Shifu Orboot is an educational Augmented Reality globe. This STEM toy smart globe is helping kids become global citizens by teaching them about different countries and cultures.
What is a Global Citizen?
According to Standford University, The US Fund for UNICEF defines a Global Citizen as someone who understands interconnectedness and respects and values diversity in oneĘĽs own community and distant places. A global citizen is open-minded and interested in learning new things about the world. They have empathy for others, including understanding and concern for othersĘĽ feelings, in oneĘĽs own community and distant places. They demonstrate concern for the environment both locally and globally.
The Shifu Orboot is a globe with no boundaries or words. Upon first look, you see the world as one. As a mom doing my best to raise my daughters with empathy and an appreciation for diversity, when the people at Shifu reached out to us for a collaboration, I researched their product to see if it would be a good fit for us. I was really intrigued by what I learned and I am excited to share this amazing concept with you!
 Shifu Orboot
The Shifu Orboot is an educational AR (Augmented Reality) globe. This STEM toy is making the term “a world without borders” into a reality. The Orboot smart globe, in conjunction with its free app, is making learning fun and interactive from the comfort of your own home. The package comes with a 10” globe, passport, stamp, country flag stickers, and a detailed help guide. It’s appropriate for children ages 4-10. It is designed for children to be able to sit and explore independently.
After you download the app, to start discovering different places, animals, etc you hold the device up to the globe to see 3D enhanced images that play with voice and music. There are also over 400 highlights and over 1000 facts across 6 categories: cultures, cuisines, monuments, inventions, animals and maps (national and state boundaries of countries). The app also has features like mysteries and quizzes where you can collect coins.
Why Orboot?
The Orboot is a multi-award winning educational toy. This smart globe shows a world without borders and sparks curiosity while building knowledge, linguistic, cognitive, creative, and emotional skills.
The Orboot was funded on Kickstarter and backed by supporters from 60 different countries coming together to make this concept into a reality! I love that fact! One toy uniting adults (and kids) across the globe- very cool!
I think that exposing children to different cultures at a young age is so important because it helps them develop an understanding, appreciation and sensitivity for diversity. In my opinion toys like this help foster a sense of global citizenship.

How cool! I would love to get this for my nephew. My brother has a map hanging in his playroom and every time I’m in a new country they move the pin and talk to my nephew about where auntie is. I think he would love this globe!

This looks like such a cool educational toy! (I don’t even think toy is the right word!). In our tech-savvy world, kids are addicted to screens, so I really appreciate anything educational that takes advantage of that! My son would love this!

Such a cool and educational toy! And how perfect to stimulate kids’ curiosity and hunger for wanderlust! Travel does make a person more open, tolerant and curious so it is great that they get into it very young!

Couldn’t agree with you more! 🙂

What a fabulous toy! From an academic standpoint, I don’t think children can get started using this soon enough. The lessons it could teach in community and diversity, however, is priceless! I wish this was around when my children were young, but the good news is… I still have lots of friends with kiddos that would love it! Thanks for getting this out there, and for the wonderful gift idea!

I completely agree! Thanks so much!

What a great way to educate our children. I love the concept of showing them “a world without borders”; Children are not born with pre-conceived barriers of any kind, and it’s great to teach them in a fun way.
growingupglad
You’re right, children are most certainly not born with any pre-conceived barriers.
